How to Reset the QBO for Mac App

If you use QuickBooks Online (QBO) on a Mac, there’s an app for that, and you can click here to get it.
It’s almost exactly like QBO through Safari or Chrome, but because it works as a desktop application, it’s a little faster. You still need a QBO subscription, and an internet connection.

The app stores pages in memory so you don’t have to reload each one. It adds a menu bar at the top for quick access to any screen. My favorite feature is the Favorites, so you can jump right into a new Invoice or the Banking screen.

I’m an Intuit QuickBooks ProAdvisor, and I like that I can also jump from client to client from a drop down menu.
However, I did have an issue where eventually, the program crashed every time I tried to switch companies. After a Force Quit, the program would open right up into the company I wanted. But after some time, even that didn’t work anymore, and the program became unusable.

The fix was easy, once I knew how:

  1. Quit QBO.
  2. Hold down the Fn (function) key and open it again.
  3. It will ask if you want to Reset the app. Click the Reset button.
  4. Open the app again. Violá! You’re back in business.

So there you go! Now you know how to reset the QBO for Mac app. Happy QuickBooksing!
